American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

McKinney is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around McKinney is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We stopped by Sonny Donuts in McKinney and had an amazing experience! We ordered half a dozen donuts and half a dozen pigs in a blanket, and everything was fresh and delicious. The donuts were soft, fluffy, and full of flavor, and the pigs in a blanket were perfectly warm with a great sausage-to-bread ratio. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and everything tasted like it had just been made. We'll definitely be back the next time we're craving donuts or a quick breakfast. Highly recommend checking this place out!

A McKinney Gem - Outstanding Donuts & Even Better Service! Sonnyβs Donuts has become our familyβs favorite spot in McKinney, and for good reason. The quality of their donuts is exceptional - their cronut is an absolute standout with its perfectly buttery, crispy layers that somehow manage to be both decadent and light. You can tell they take real pride in their baking. But what really sets Sonnyβs apart is their incredible service. During our recent visit, my kids accidentally spilled milk, and the staffβs response was beyond what anyone would expect. Not only did they immediately help us clean up without making us feel embarrassed, but they also insisted on giving us another milk on the house. Itβs these small acts of kindness that turn a good donut shop into a beloved community spot. The prices are more than fair, especially considering the quality youβre getting. In a world where great customer service feels increasingly rare, Sonnyβs Donuts proves that treating people with genuine care and respect is still alive and well. Weβll absolutely be back, and I canβt recommend this place highly enough to anyone in the McKinney area!

One of the best places ever. I don't like glazed much, here they're amazing. I adore the others I've tried. Kolaches? I don't even like those. These are amazing. The breakfast sandwiches are good. I work in the same strip (which is how I tried these, boss got us some one day) and it's easy, happy, tasty breakfast. I love it here, the people are really sweet. This place and the donuts make me happy!

I stopped at Sonny Donuts around 11 a.m. on a recent weekday and was pleased to see they still had a nice selection of donuts remaining, and picked up a half dozen: a plain cake donut, a frosted cake donut, an old-fashioned glazed, plain glazed, a cronut, and a Spider-Man frosted donut for my toddler son. The old-fashioned was my favorite of the bunch, nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a pleasant level of sweetness. The cake donuts were all right- soft and fairly moist. I prefer a crunchy exterior, but so it goes. I tried the glazed and cronut, both were solid. Most importantly, my son loved the Spider-Man donut. While it was a little pricy, it was totally worth it to see his smile when I opened up the donut box and showed it to him. Service was pleasant and friendly, and donuts were reasonably priced. My half dozen was $12.34 with tax. If you're in the neighborhood and thinking about donuts, this is a good stop.

What a fantastic place to eat donuts, get fresh coffee, and the sweetest customer service in a donut shop ever:-) the donuts are light and perfectly balanced the dough has consistency and is not just air. The glaze is not dripping off everything but is covered. The cinnamon roll has real cinnamon rolled into it and not just over it:-) Perfect for a morning with the little person I love so much :-) we also took 2 dozen donuts home! The atmosphere is sweet:-) great music, calm and family oriented! Our new favorite place to get a great donut cup coffee.
